Outdoor Club Staff

The Outdoor Club is staffed by Notre Dame teachers who have a passion for wilderness travel and who have undergone training in a variety of backcountry skills. Read about some of our staff below.

​ANDREW McCRACKEN is certified by Paddle Canada to teach the following disciplines: Sea Kayaking (Level 2), Kayak Rolling, Advanced Tandem Lakewater Canoeing, and Wilderness Camping. Additionally, he is a Level 2 Lakewater Canoe Instructor with RCABC, a hiking leader with the Outdoor Council of Canada, and certified in Advanced Wilderness First Aid. In his time off he enjoys remote kayak trips on the open coast of BC.

ALINA TUCK studied yoga in Rishikesh, India where she received her 200-hour instructor certification. She is a veteran runner and consequently sets quite a pace on the hiking trail! She recently completed her Basic Camping certification and looks forward to helping ND students learn the craft of outdoor living.

MARTIN PAGCALIWAGAN has embraced the outdoor life with the Club and hopes one day to complete the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He recently completed his Basic Camping certification and is the proud owner of a new stove (which he takes everywhere)!

​​​JESSICA SHIN is an avid hiker who enjoys exploring the mountains of Vancouver's North Shore.  She is a knowledgeable gear junkie who keeps up to date on the latest kit and tactics used by thru-hikers and other dedicated outdoor athletes.

​​STEPHANIE CHAN grew up in Vancouver, but only started hiking when she lived in Europe, exploring the mist-shrouded summits of England's Lake District and staring in wonder at the Alps. Having returned to BC, she is now eager to adventure in our local mountains and share the experience with Notre Dame students.
